The GROOTY frame is crafted from ash wood, one of the strongest species available.

Its design harmonizes nature’s flowing, organic lines with the mechanical optimization of shapes and sections: generous volumes where stiffness and strength are required, and thinner, more sculpted forms where flexibility is an asset and loads are reduced.

The result is a frame that’s as elegant as it is efficient, alive in both form and function.

Test riders are immediately struck by GROOTY’s remarkable blend of comfort, agility, and responsiveness. The wooden frame naturally absorbs road vibrations more effectively than carbon, aluminum, titanium—or even bamboo—delivering a smoother, more refined ride feel. At the same time, the bike surprises with its lively character—its sharp responsiveness and snappy acceleration make every effort count.

Weighing approximately 8.7 kg (size L, without pedals) with a frame around 2.1 kg, GROOTY remains impressively light without compromising strength. Its classic geometry, inspired by top-tier road bikes, offers familiar handling for seasoned riders and a confident feel for newcomers alike.

Built to last

Each GROOTY frame is composed of 10 precisely CNC machined wooden elements, reinforced with carbon and aluminum reinforcement inserts at key stress zones: the head tube, seatpost, bottom bracket, and rear axle. The seamless, high-strength bonded joints are a testament to WOODALPS’ expertise in both craftsmanship and durability.

Tested for several years across touring, commuting, and everyday road use—as well as through rigorous ISO 4210 certification procedures—GROOTY has proven its reliability far beyond the lab. Unlike carbon or aluminum frames, it is free from common failure points like fatigue cracks, weld weaknesses, or impact damage.

Ce vélo Woodalps est une véritable découverte. Sa conception unique met en valeur le frêne brut avec un design incroyable et une ingénierie parfaitement maîtrisée. Dès les premiers coups de pédales, on ressent et on entend cette vibration si particulière du bois sur la route, une sensation unique. Personnalisable avec ses gravures au laser, il ne passe jamais inaperçu et fait beaucoup parler de lui sur la route et ailleurs. I became a WOODALPer when I visited the Bespoked in 2023. The bikes immediately appealed to me visually at the exhibition and the conversation at the stand was so good that I ordered a bike shortly afterwards. So I started the 2024 cycling season with a great bike. The ride feels great, the bike rolls easily and the frame is stiff enough for a sprint or a climb. Otherwise, it has good damping properties. The support and information flow during the ordering and building of the bike is excellent from Arnaud. I am glad that I decided on such a bike. For me as a bike collector, it's a highlight in my collection that other people will notice when I take it on bike tours. Once again you get into conversation. For me, however, the fact that I don't have just any off-the-peg bike but a truly individual bike for a fair price compared to other high-end brands is worth much more. I would choose a bike like this again at any time.
